Ashes 2005 - What a series

What an amazing series is unfolding . England 2-1 up. Who would have thought of such a score line. Ofcourse Australia can still retain the Ashes by winning the last test. But that's for another day.

The apple of my eye

This is my daughter, Harini. Isn't she cute? She is dressed up as Radha for a school function. God, I miss her.

Increasing commercialization

It's Janmashtami. All over India, its celebrated widely, but in Mumbai, it's extra special because of the dahi-handi. I have never participated in one though have been witness to many in my childhood. It has too like other things become commercialized and vulgar. I don't take my six year old daughter to see the Dahi-handi because of this. The Ganesh festival is becoming more and more vulgar with the latest remixes and Film Music blaring from the speakers.

I guess it's a normal process. It's not in Man's tendency to keep anything pure.

The power of music

I have got my bunch of CDs along with me. It's amazing how music helps you minimize the effect of homesickness. Have been listening to Rahman's Tamil Hits today. wow what an artist. Duet, Pudhiya mugam,Iruvar, Bombay......... Can't stop listening.

Family

I have travelled now 4 times in the last four months. My wife doesn't say much but i know it is difficult for her. My daughter is six now and is at the age where she misses me. I miss her too. But then there is a job to be done. The job pays well, the environment is good, I am comfortable. But sometimes I think , am I growing?

Lonely and Homesick

I am posting this 10000 miles away from home, lonely and homesick. It's a sunday still have to work as have nothing to do in the hotel. Actually I did watch a movie on HBO today - Ray. What a movie, What music. I don't listen to English music as much but recently have been discovering some olden goldies - Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte and now Ray Charles. Have to get the CD.

My to watch list for Hindi films is growing. The ticket rates are becoming so prohibitive that I have bought a DVD player and decided to wait for the DVD so that we could watch it at home. I want to watch - Parineeta , Sarkaar, Viruddh, Mangal Pandey

There goes another day - preface

I can think high, right. I named the title - preface as if its going to be like a book. :-) I am very fond of reading books and would be mighty proud of myself if I manage to post as many articles as pages in the smallest book I have read

This is the third blog I have created for myself and would like to pursue . I have been always fascinated by the idea of a blog and the people who seem to find the right words for what they are feeling at the moment. Anyways I am taking it by the day for now.
